POSITION DESCRIPTION

CONTROLLER

Res is a privately held, ISO/TS 16949 certified manufacturer of stamped metal components, assemblies and value added services. The company was founded in 1907 and has a solid reputation in the markets it serves (automotive, clean-technology industries, agriculture, turf-care, commercial lighting, and commercial cookware). Core competencies include: innovative equipment, tool and process design; medium to high volume progressive die stamping supported by welding, next level assembly, and a wide range of outside services.

The Controller will ensure that the organization has timely, accurate financial information available and will work proactively to maintain the highest integrity relationships with both internal and external customers and suppliers.  In addition, this position will be charged with collaborating to eliminate waste and establish effective information systems and financial transaction processes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop associates

• Coach and develop area of responsibility to support Res’ strategic and operational goals
• Manage day-to-day activities of accounting area
• Maintain open and continuous communication with team to raise the awareness of company wide priorities and initiatives and progress toward goals
• Successfully deploy/communicate the strategic plan initiatives to the team and monitor actionable items to hold associates accountable for plans

Problem Solving

• Analyze variances to financial plans and forecasts on a period basis
• Support the management team with timely product/profitability analysis
• Participate in costing analysis
• Make recommendations for changes to procedures, operating systems, budgets, and other financial control functions
• Advocate for strong financial acumen throughout the organization

Plan for the Future

• Actively engage in the analysis of potential new business opportunities
• Prepare annual operating budgets and period P&L forecasts
• Assist in establishing financial reporting systems and accounting and collection procedures
• Maintain good internal and external working relationships
• Participate in appropriate professional, networking opportunities
• Establish the annual operating budget for manufacturing planning and control

Minimum Qualifications:         

• Bachelor degree in Business, Accounting major preferred
• Seven years related experience with General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable
• Manufacturing experience and/or exposure to operations, cost accounting, operating system analysis and improvement
• Broad exposure to accounting software and operating systems
• Ability to analyze problems and solutions from a strategic and practical perspective

Preferred Qualifications:

• CPA or CMA certification
• Experience leading and coaching others
• Experience with MAS200 and FAS500
• Managerial financial accounting knowledge
• Knowledge of Toyota Production System (TPS)
