POSITION DESCRIPTION

Quality Engineer

Res is a privately held, non-union, ISO/TS 16949 certified manufacturer of stamped metal components, assemblies and value added services. The company was founded in 1907 and has a solid reputation in the markets it serves (automotive, clean-technology industries, agriculture, turf-care, commercial lighting, and commercial cookware). Core competencies include: innovative equipment, tool and process design; medium to high volume progressive die stamping supported by welding, next level assembly, and a wide range of outside services.

Res seeks to develop the knowledge and capabilities of the organization by adding value through effective problem solving and continuous improvement.  For the last two years, Res have been deeply engaged in adapting Toyota Production System (TPS) methodologies across the organization.  These initiatives are challenging but with the right people and culture, we strive to make the impossible…possible.

The Quality Engineer will be responsible for advocating for, educating, and promoting the use of best practices found within Res’ quality management system (QMS) to minimize waste.  In addition, this position will maintain and improve standards of practice that enable the organization to proactively meet customer requirements from quoting  through order fulfillment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

Quality Engineering

  1. Collaborate with Res customers’ quality and engineering personnel to determine critical part features and review manufacturability of design.
  2. Develop and submit PPAP documents for new product launches to meet customer requirements.
  3. Participate in the Advanced Product Quality Planning activities to determine appropriate use of new and existing measurement systems during new tool or process design and startup. 
  4. Coordinate pre-launch production trial run process monitoring.
  5. Participate in the development of Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
  6. Facilitate and promote use of appropriate problem solving techniques for effective root cause analysis and successful corrective action.
  7. Provide engineering support to operations ensuring consistent application of quality methodologies.
  8. Determine when process stability and capability studies should be performed on existing processes. 

Quality Management System

  1. Ensure Res’ readiness for all internal and external quality audits. 

Minimum Qualifications:    

  1. Bachelor degree in Engineering, prefer Manufacturing or Mechanical
  2. Three years manufacturing experience
  3. Experience maintaining a certified quality management system (e.g. TS 16949, ISO).
  4. Strong mechanical aptitude (i.e. intuitive understanding of mechanical processes)
  5. Track record of driving continuous quality improvement in a manufacturing environment.
  6. Work experience in an organization that supplied large OEM’s.
